Before Breast Augmentation

Weeks before your breast augmentation in Houston, Dr. Cho will assess your medical history and existing health conditions to ensure surgery is safe for you. He will explain the details of your procedure, answer your questions and provide you with pre- and post-operative instructions to help prepare you for surgery. All breast augmentation patients are required to refrain from using tobacco products, consuming alcohol and taking supplements and medications that can thin the blood in the weeks leading up to surgery.

After Breast Augmentation

A hospital stay is generally not necessary after breast augmentation, however you will need someone to drive you home and help care for you for at least 24-48 hours following surgery.

Most patients experience some discomfort, swelling and bruising for 1-2 weeks after surgery, after which time the initial recovery period has passed, and patients may return to work and other normal daily activities. Heavy lifting (more than 25 lbs.) and strenuous activity may be restricted for about 3-4 weeks or longer, especially if breast implants are placed under the chest muscles. Dr. Cho will tell you exactly when you may resume certain activities after monitoring your healing progress during follow-up appointments.

Within 3-6 months, you can expect to be enjoying your lovely new curves and final breast augmentation results, however keep in mind that it may take as long as a year for scars to fade and minor residual swelling to disappear completely.
